Douglas County Soicitor-General’s Office
Sonya Compton became the Solicitor-General in Douglas County on January 1, 2019, with a mission for her office to obtain justice for victims, hold offenders accountable and keep the community safe by effectively prosecuting cases with the highest standard of fairness and integrity.
The Solicitor-General’s office is responsible for the prosecution traffic and misdemeanor crimes in Douglas County. These cases include domestic violence, vehicular homicide, driving under the influence, trespassing, and animal cruelty.
SG Compton is an alumna of Valdosta State University. She earned of Juris Doctorate from John Marshall Law School. Prior to becoming the Solicitor-General was the managing attorney of the law firm of Sonya C. Compton, LLC located in Douglasville, Georgia where she specialized in general civil and criminal litigation handling matters ranging from appeals, personal injury, criminal, family, and juvenile law.
